This is all sorts of awesome. Scott Gairdner imagined in a mockumentary-style video how the world would remember The Beatles 1000 years after they died. The result is “Beatles 3000,” a hilarious satire that finds Scottie Pippen as a member of the most prolific band in history. Watch it, please! [Courtesy of Dangerous Minds]

Charlotte, North Carolina-based artist, Karen O’Leary, blew up the blogosphere (with a story that originated here) last week with her intricate and jealousy-inducing, NYC Map Cuts.
And now she’s back with her self-described, “hands down favorite piece yet:” Paris in Pen and Paper (more detailed shots on the other side).
O’Leary talks with The Jailbreak about her [...]

Exclusive Interview — Artist Max Papeschi
October 15th, 2009 · Comments

Juxtaposing cartoon characters against backdrops of war and destruction is Italian artist Max Papeschi’s idea of honest advertising. His work is provocative, polarizing, and an interesting insight into how foreigners view American ideals. He would suggest that he’s not anti-American, though. Rather anti-consumerist—his portraits a social commentary on the globalization and pervasiveness of media.
Some would [...]

It goes without saying that we’re huge fans of Williamsburg-based artist and toy maker, Tara McPherson. Her work is cutting edge and stretches the boundaries of our constantly evolving artistic aesthetic.
This interview was conducted with McPherson fresh off her 3o-city book tour around the US, Europe and Brazil. She talks about her own artistic evolution [...]

Brooklyn-based indie-pop duo, Matt and Kim recently stood up for an interview with Slam x Hype that was conducted by my friend and all around good dude, Anthony Hull.
It’s always nice to see fellow Brooklynites doing well in any vein of the artistic world–especially folks that bestow us with such good music!
Check out the video [...]

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with toy- and film-maker Sucklord. For those people who aren’t familiar with the eccentric creator of such gems as the Homotrooper and the Gay Empire (above), visit his website.
Sucklord participated in the Jailbreak’s Art + Action = Obama exhibition last year, and created one of my favorite pieces [...]

•”It’s Nice That” ran a brief interview with artist Aakash Nihalani who works mostly with squares and rectangles in an effort to accentuate “unexpected contours” around NYC.
•Wired redesigned Craigslist for shits and giggles because Craigslist apparently isn’t interested in a much-needed face lift. They did a good job, too.
•Time Magazine’s ‘50 Best Websites of 2009‘ [...]

For someone who has been following both of these artists pretty extensively over the past six months, it’s quite a joy to see one of them interviewing the other. Not only does Shepard Fairey ask good questions, he gets honest, refreshing answers out of the most mysterious man in the art world: Banksy.
How Swindle Magazine [...]

Ron English’s MC Supersized Toy
July 29th, 2009 · Comments

Ron English (interviewed) collaborated with Secret Base to create this toy version of his well-known MC Supersized figure. The orange shell breaks off, revealing the skeleton, which also glows in the dark! Each toy comes in a special “popaganda” french fries box.
No information yet as to where one of these can be purchased.

Kaws Interview

Here’s an interview with KAWS from the Stages show in Paris. He seems to be a pretty interesting guy. I remember reading once that he only agrees to collaborate with companies and/or products that are already established entities of his everyday life–such as Nike and Levi’s.
The painting shown in this clip was created for Livestrong.
