Things I Need: The “Ex-Talk Show Host” Mask

1

On Monday, Conan O’Brien premiered Conan, his new (in time, but certainly not format) show on TBS, to the tune of 4.1 million viewers. The funniest segment of the evening was his conversation with sidekick Andy Richter about this “Ex-Talk Show Host” mask, which, upon discovering it existed, Conan described as the  “biggest low” of his tumultuous 2010. (I mean, right? It’s horrific.)

Thanks to the Internet, we’ve learned the mask certainly does exist and is still available to purchase here for $12.99. (Since I’m on the record as anti-Halloween, I need this thing purely to scare the bejesus out of the Chinese delivery guy.)

Check out the clip here (it won’t embed for some reason), and see a photo of the mask on display next to Leno’s and Letterman’s equally hideous counterparts after the jump.

Words can’t do this video justice, so we won’t even try. Inexplicably, we think it has a good shot at going viral.

I’m serious about this one. Why? Because “having this remarkable and unique gadget on your desk will undoubtedly make your friends and colleagues very jealous and earn you eternal respect.”

Bring mini Steve home for a little bit less than an iPod nano [$129.99].

Things I Need: An Egg-Bot Kit

1

Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories, purveyors of DIY and open source hardware designs, have just announced the release [available for pre-order here] of their Egg-Bot Kit, an open source “art robot” that can draw on spherical surfaces.

You know, for decorating Christmas ornaments.

Click here to read all about the eggbot. Check out a bunch more photos after the jump.

McDonald’s Happy Meal Could Survive a Zombie Apocalypse

1

New York City-based photographer and artist Sally Davies bought a Happy Meal from McDonald’s some five months ago, left it out on her living room table, and promised to take a picture of it every day until the burger and fries noticeably changed in appearance. Sometime last week Davies’ art experiment reached day 137, and if you thought mold and other natural decomposition processes would have occurred, well, you’d be wrong.

After months, the burger and fries look pretty much the same as they did on day 1 (pictured above), which, among other things, is incredibly disgusting. Check out its lack of progress below.

Ted & Eddy The Two-Headed Teddy Bear

1

Ted & Eddy The Two-Headed Teddy Bear is probably the most normal thing offered at the online shop of London’s ‘The Last Tuesday Society.’ That’s a pretty loaded statement, considering how freaky this thing is, but when you’re also selling a mummified erect penis, a cuddly bear with two heads seems to pale in comparison.

The Society is a “Pataphysical organization founded by William James at Harvard in the 1870s and presently run by The Chancellor, Mr. Viktor Wynd, and the Tribune, Suzette Field, with the aid of The Fellows of The Society. It is devoted to exploring and furthering the esoteric, literary and artistic aspects of life in London and beyond.”

They have a brick-and-mortar store called ‘Viktor Wynd’s Little Shop of Horrors’ in Hackney, London. Go visit, if you dare.

Check out teddy in two other colors below.

The zeitgeist’s current love affair with zombies and vampires is getting a little out of hand. Exhibit A: this Garden Zombie is an actual product. Lawn gnomes, beware.

WTF News: Introducing The R2D2 Mailbox Bank

In today’s WTF-News: A mashup from Star Wars and (drumroll, please…) The United States Postal Service. And yes, it’s fully licensed by both parties, according to the product copy. Oh, and it’s a bank too. Handy.

We will be keeping tabs the C3P0/Senate Ways and Means Committee/ can-opener mashup reportedly due out this Fall.
