Our friends at Nation Studio, who we just collaborated with on the Like & Dislike Stamps, have launched a deviously fun new website, Googleblackchristmas.com, that customizes holidays cards with various words from Google’s Blacklist. For the uninformed, Google’s Blacklist came about upon the release of Google Instant, and essentially exists as an internal master list of words and phrases that Instant simply won’t recognize so not to inadvertently offend the person who’s searching (read: prudes). Tom and his crew at Nation have combed the list and plugged in a number of mostly NSFW words to six different fields, which are customized using the up and down arrows on your keyboard. (My favorite feature is the “?” box that pops up next to each word, hyperlinking to either the Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary definition.) Check out a few of my creations after the jump, and click here to make your own. Twentysomething film student Alex Eylar recreates famous scenes from iconic films using legos. Above, the two creepy little girls confront Danny in the hallway, one of many memorable moments from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Check out seven more after the jump, including a nice homage to Mario’s recent 25th anniversary. Super useful. [$19.95] Baseball? Hah! Here at Jailbreak our national pastime is playing ping pong, making this iPong Table Tennis Trainer a must-have for secretly honing my skills while Jason isn’t around. Its best feature? Besides holding a whopping 110 balls at once, this bad boy has three different spin settings: under; top; and heavy top, for “high rpm rotation that must be returned with a controlled downward stroke.” Game on! I’m serious about this one. Why? Because “having this remarkable and unique gadget on your desk will undoubtedly make your friends and colleagues very jealous and earn you eternal respect.” Bring mini Steve home for a little bit less than an iPod nano [$129.99].

As the decorative centerpiece of its “Backyard” lounge, where it held events during this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Vitaminwater Canada built this pop art chandelier from illuminated VW bottles. The chandelier was such a hit that in its yearly “Best and Worst of TIFF” roundup, Canada’s National Post honored it as the “best light fixture,” an award it certainly deserved but mustn’t have had much competition for. Thanks to our buddy Mike @EvilPRGuy Dolan — Vitaminwater Canada’s “Community Manager” — for sending along these photos, two more of which can be seen after the jump. Invented by our good friends at Think Geek, the Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter [$24.99] is by far the coolest of its kind. Probably ever. Things I Need: An Etch A Sketch® iPad Case

Well, first I need an iPad, and then I’ll have a reason to pick up this nifty, nostalgia-inducing little accoutrement. Also, check out the camera hole! Foreshadowing, perhaps? Available from Headcase [$39.00]. Check out a bunch more product shots after the jump. (Thanks, Will!) Ron Jan‘s Iron Spam action figure parody is one of oddest mashups we’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing on The Jailbreak. The faceplate, arms and legs were molded with super sculpey and then attached to a spam can adorned with a custom label. Check out Ron’s Iron Zombie after the break. Artist Kiel Johnson builds highly detailed replica cameras out of nothing but cardboard, some glue, and vintage shoulder straps. After the jump check out his entire collection, as well as an inspiring time-lapse video of Johnson creating a massive Twin Lens Reflex Camera. |
