In one of the more epic mashups we’ve seen, an illustrator named Joseph Senior from New Zealand has taken Hello Kitty and combined her with a number of pop-culture mainstays, including Darth Vader, Buzz Lightyear, Iron Man, Homer Simpson and Mr. Spock. It’s a shame these are only illustrations — they would look fantastic sitting on our toy throne. Hit the jump to see 12 more. [Spotted at Toysrevil] Kanye’s Tweets as New Yorker Cartoon Captions

So rapper Kanye West joined Twitter exactly a week ago today, and his feed — which is full of egotistical, misspelled, grammatically incorrect brilliance — has since been the hottest topic in the blogosphere. At some point, okay it was on Monday at approximately 3:00 a.m., three Twitter users with two accounts, Josh A. Cagan and Paul and Storm, decided to attach select Kanye tweets as captions to New Yorker cartoons, giving birth to what is perhaps the best Internet meme we’ve ever seen. While I assume this Space Invader couch actually exists, it’s hard to tell these days with people and their crazy Photoshop skills. The blurb on designer/conceiver Igor Chak’s website suggests it is, in fact, the real deal. Chak says, “the couch is all leather, with two glass surfaces. Although it might look uncomfortable, it’s actually really soft…and made with memory foam.” From his bio, Chak seems like a pretty legitimate guy, so we’re inclined to take his word for it. Plus, the couch is featured in the “industrial” section of his website, when there’s also a “conceptual” area, where it is not. A further skim through his bio reveals Chak is somewhat of a nomad; born in Russia, and raised in Toyko and Seattle. He received his education in industrial design (hint #3) at the Art Institute in Seattle, before taking a few jobs and eventually landing a position as a prototyping specialist at Nokia. If his life hasn’t intrigued you already, Chak says he’s finally found his passion in life: motorcycle design. With two concepts already completed, Chak is working on a third, for a 2030 BMW Motorrad, which he says will be, “visually and technologically stunning.” Check out a few more pics of the Space Invader couch below. Final verdict: real.
