On Monday, Conan O’Brien premiered Conan, his new (in time, but certainly not format) show on TBS, to the tune of 4.1 million viewers. The funniest segment of the evening was his conversation with sidekick Andy Richter about this “Ex-Talk Show Host” mask, which, upon discovering it existed, Conan described as the “biggest low” of his tumultuous 2010. (I mean, right? It’s horrific.) Thanks to the Internet, we’ve learned the mask certainly does exist and is still available to purchase here for $12.99. (Since I’m on the record as anti-Halloween, I need this thing purely to scare the bejesus out of the Chinese delivery guy.) Check out the clip here (it won’t embed for some reason), and see a photo of the mask on display next to Leno’s and Letterman’s equally hideous counterparts after the jump. [Dooby Brain via Rare2Go] Written and directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, INFLUENCERS is a wonderfully shot short film that explores what it means to be an “influencer” in popular culture today. Through conversations with influential New York City creatives, the 14-minute snapshot discovers how trends & creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment. [Via Rue Archimede] October 31st came and went without one single post here on The Jailbreak about dogs in costumes, vomiting or otherwise carved pumpkins (OK, this one is awesome), girls dressed up in promiscuous outfits, or really anything Halloween related whatsoever. Why? Well, I have a no-Halloween-posts rule because I find the whole thing to reek of irrelevance. The same thing can be said for the Internet during all major holiday months (read: in general), but October is particularly vacuous and bad. Anyway, today I’m breaking said self-regulation because this guy’s Banksy Flower-Chucker costume is so accurate that it would be a shame not to share. Plus, it’s November. Best Halloween costume of the year? Probably … maybe? Who cares! Update: The “guy” in question is actually an acquaintance of Jason, a man named George Schnakenberg, who has a bunch of photos showing the set-up and execution of this stunt on his Flickr page. Bravo, George! [Via Reddit] As a follow-up to their Framework poster we featured earlier today, the “Every Guyed” Network has just released Ensemble: The Style of Music, a similarly nicely illustrated guide to iconic outfits worn by 20 of the most fashionable men in music history. The poster, which can be purchased here for 30 bucks, was designed by Moxy Creative‘s Glenn Michael and illustrated by James Alexander. Check out our 10 favorite individual styles after the jump. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to learn that this is actually how they all dress in real life. And Hermione’s rocking that baggy sweater quite nicely, by the way. Illustration by MARiKaArt. Artist and author Jim Benton has attempted to out-Gaga Lady Gaga with this series of illustrations depicting potential new outfits for our favorite sartorial savant. Satire is a dish best served with the flesh of one’s critics, don’t you think? See them big after the jump. [Spotted on Styleite] Pick one up from Threadless [$40.00]. With Halloween sneaking up on us, we thought it might be a nice public service to start providing some inspiration for costume ideas that aren’t played out. After all, if you’re going to go through the effort to dress up at all, you might as well turn some heads. Exhibit A: The Toy Soldier. This shirt isn’t quite available yet but you can vote for it on Threadless. Caveat: I’m not quite sure that there’s really an ink that could glow quite so bright. [Threadless via Super Punch] |
