Archive for the ‘Creative Company’ CategoryThere’s an advertisement/game/Matrix-like marvel going around today that concerns, of all things, ice cream. Imagine if Mario was a pretty woman and he jumped for bon bons instead of bricks, and you’d have the beginning of this epic infotainment odyssey. Using your keyboard’s arrow keys and space bar, you direct the protagonist through a series of luxurious vignettes. The product placements, however, are not just background wallpaper; they’re active elements of the character’s journey. (I spent a good couple minutes jumping around platforms in a Dove ad while reliving an old recurring Pitfall Harry anxiety dream.) The spot was produced by Magnum, the UK’s classy cousin to our Good Humor. It’s really pretty amazing. Says Think Geek, the creator & exclusive distributor of the new Organ Transplant Lunch Cooler:
The Graffiti Cocktail Shaker is another one of those noteworthy products we stumbled upon at New York Gift Fair, which I totally forgot about until coming across it again online yesterday. It’s being produced (or maybe just distributed) by Kikkerland. No information is available on their website, but it’s up for pre-order ($20) over on Unica, with a late-March ship date. -Quincy Brooklyn-based Ashi Dashi (Japanese for “stick your feet out”) is a cool small business that produces a line of unique designer socks, which are all made right here in the USA. While Ashi admits to being unable to compete with the prices of other well-known designer sock brands, they pride themselves on the quality and inventiveness of their product — two factors that we admire in any creative venture. In this case, the cliched dollar and a dream scenario is paying off, as socks that stretch to resemble things like cigarettes, cuts of meat, intestines, corn and hot-dogs are certainly things that needed to exist. Kickstarter found a way to monetize the DIY craze by connecting people with creative projects with a community of potential financial backers. They call it “crowdfunding,” and it’s revolutionizing the way ideas become reality. For those unfamiliar with the landscape-changing service, Zippy Cart and Killer Infographics put together this chart that explains exactly how Kickstarter works. Our friends at Mimoco are at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas this week, where they have just announced an exciting collaboration licensing deal with DC Comics. Mimoco’s “designer” flash drive line Mimobots has previously been decorated with Star Wars and Hello Kitty Characters, and now it will lend its frame to the iconic superheroes & villains of the DC universe. First up is a run of five Batman Mimobots, including the limited-edition (5,000 pieces) vintage 1939-style Dark Knight shown above, which is the only one currently available to purchase [$19.95-$54.95]. The Joker, Robin, Catwoman and another Batman version (last three after the jump) round out the series, and will be released in February, presumably at Toy Fair in New York. They’ve also promised to expand this line in the near future with Green Lantern, The Flash and Superman Mimobots. Congrats to Evan & the Mimoco crew for this stellar release! Coming soon for $30. Check out the four colorways in more detail after the jump. [Incase via Mashkulture] Pac-Man Ghost Lamps

In their own words: “Made from a mixture of clay, compost, and seeds, “seedbombs” are becoming an increasingly popular means combating the many forgotten grey spaces we encounter everyday-from sidewalk cracks to vacant lots and parking medians. They can be thrown anonymously into these derelict urban sites to temporarily reclaim and transform them into places worth looking at and caring for” How can you not love this idea? It’s so mischievous and beneficent all at the same time. To find out more about Greenaid, visit this site. |
