Movie Scenes Recreated With Legos

0

Twentysomething film student Alex Eylar recreates famous scenes from iconic films using legos. Above, the two creepy little girls confront Danny in the hallway, one of many memorable moments from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

Check out seven more after the jump, including a nice homage to Mario’s recent 25th anniversary.

Banksy Flower-Chucker Costume

0

October 31st came and went without one single post here on The Jailbreak about dogs in costumes, vomiting or otherwise carved pumpkins (OK, this one is awesome), girls dressed up in promiscuous outfits, or really anything Halloween related whatsoever.

Why? Well, I have a no-Halloween-posts rule because I find the whole thing to reek of irrelevance. The same thing can be said for the Internet during all major holiday months (read: in general), but October is particularly vacuous and bad.

Anyway, today I’m breaking said self-regulation because this guy’s Banksy Flower-Chucker costume is so accurate that it would be a shame not to share. Plus, it’s November. Best Halloween costume of the year? Probably … maybe? Who cares!

Update: The “guy” in question is actually an acquaintance of Jason, a man named George Schnakenberg, who has a bunch of photos showing the set-up and execution of this stunt on his Flickr page. Bravo, George!

Designer Weapons

0

Artist Peter Gronquist decorates real, albeit disabled, weapons with the logos of fashion’s most well-known brands. OK – they’re interesting and thought provoking, but what do his sculptures really mean? Gronquist himself doesn’t even know: “I have so many bullshit theories and meanings about these things,” he told Lost in a Supermarket in 2009.

“I guess that ultimately they’re a parody of myself and the rest of our culture. I really just wanted to make something completely ridiculous. Then people gave me money for them. So I made a ton of them because I’m a whore. I find that it’s a parody of myself because I also like ridiculous things sometimes for no logical reason. I’m a victim of the rampant consumerism that I parody. It’s all very confusing.”

I’d say. After the jump check out the rest of his blinged-out weapon collection.

Angry Birds Plush Toys

2

While Tech Crunch reported about two weeks ago that Rovio — the Finnish computer game developer responsible for creating the most compulsively addictive cell phone game since snake — were planning to release their Angry Birds as plush toys, it wasn’t until a few days ago that the products were made available for pre-order online.

Supposedly there are limited quantities being produced, so head over to either the Angry Birds Shop or Toy Wiz.com to reserve the 8″ plushies ($14.99 each) for a December delivery. The only question remaining is will they make pigs?
