In case you’re wondering, these are made by Takara Tomy, Japan’s biggest toy company. So they’re no joke. It’s a full on mass market product. If you’re not planning a trip to Tokyo but still gotta have it, they’re available via Ningoyushi.com.
The purpose of this shiny portable cooler is to keep watermelons at the perfect eating temperature at all times. It also has a heating function, for, you know, a watermelon stew, perhaps. This ridiculous contraption is available through a (obviously) Japanese company called Joybond. The Portable Watermelon Cooler: Definitely something I need. [Gizmodo via Crunch Gear]
We will be keeping tabs the C3P0/Senate Ways and Means Committee/ can-opener mashup reportedly due out this Fall. The Taste Explosion Grenade Salt & Pepper Shakers ($19.99). We’ve got to give it up to Glaceau: they look just like the bottles. Kind of makes us want to drink them. [Via Color By Numbers] The average American is exposed to 6,000 ads a day. So, assuming you’re an average American – out of the 6,000 ads you saw yesterday, how many can you recall? (not including the Old Spice guy!) All in all, it would be kind to the ad industry to say that they have us all swimming in a sea of mediocrity. Well, this gallery shows the best of what that industry can do when they let the creatives color outside the lines and think outside of the box. Each one of these ads lets the viewer stop for a moment and use their own imagination to connect the dots. Enjoy. [Images via Toxel] Nerdcore Rap? It’s new to us too but with lyrics like these, it’s pretty hard not to like: Misplaced the Ambien (first world problem)Left a participle dangling (first world problem) You’re scheduling your root canal (first world problem) Your grad schooling had no rationale (first world problem) You didn’t like your appetizer (first world problem) Your yacht got capsized (a first world problem) Nice to see some critical thought/humor wrapped up in such an appealing package. And don’t overlook the artist’s name: MC Frontalot. Pitch perfect. Full lyrics after the break.
Check out this Cow/Spiderman (Spider Mucca in Italiano) hybrid snapped this summer by Flickr user Stefano Petroni at Vatican City in Rome. Wonder how the cow feels about relative unknown actor Andrew Garfield being cast in the titular role of the upcoming reboot? [Via LikeCool] As you can imagine, getting Master Yoda to correctly recite driving directions is a difficult task. Check out this hilarious behind-the-scenes look at his recording session for TomTom, makers of now ubiquitous travel-ready GPS systems, to find out just how frustrating it turned out to be. Watch a similar, parody-style video for Darth Vader’s recording session below. If I had $888 dollars to burn, this would be my plan for next Halloween. The expression and the proportions put this getup into a league of its own. Costume art, anyone? [Via Boing Boing] |
