Low on Force? Keep warm inside a Tauntan!

The goriest, gooiest and possibly funniest, scene in all of Star Wars has finally met the perfect licensing opportunity.  Note the light saber zipper pull – a small detail that borders on genius.

Available now, from our friends at Thingeek.

Thanks to Godzilla Hong Kong Has the Tightest Playgound Ever

See those oddly-shaped pink blobs in the lower part of the photo above? Well, those are called monster’s footprints. They consist of 120 square feet of pink rubber that was sunken into the ground. Pretty cool, huh. They serve as a playground of sorts for people in the city center. A couple more detailed shots under the cut.

Deezen has the scoop: “Beijing architects MAD have created an installation of two large monster’s footprints as part of the Shenzhen & Hong Kong bi-city Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture in China.”

Kansas City-based fashion photog, Brian James, took a bunch of local folks and photographed them in public spaces holding signs–à la the homeless–for his “I’ll Say It For You” expose. Check out more of the series and a quote about the project below.

Select Prints by Mark Weaver

0

We’re really big fans of illustrator Mark Weaver, as we’ve featured his work quite a few times previously. I was just browsing through his portfolio and noticed that surprisingly he still has a few of his limited edition screen prints available to purchase. While they won’t be delivered before Christmas, it’s still a great opportunity to own a piece of art from the prolific artist. Seen above is the General Dodo screenprint. It’s limited to 50 copies and costs $50.00. Buy one here. Two more below.

Karen O’Leary x The Jailbreak — Manhattan Barcode Print

text for barcode map

We are very pleased to announce that our collaboration with wonderful and talented map-cut artist, Karen O’Leary, has resulted in this amazing Manhattan Barcode Map, which has just been made available to purchase as a limited edition print. Using a variety of black ink pens–ranging from 0.25 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm, 0.45 mm, and 0.50 mm–the map of Manhattan was first hand-drawn in thousands of tiny lines. Next, thin slices were eliminated and a barcode was exposed. Besides being an intricate component of the Jailbreak logo, the barcode is an essential, yet often unnoticed, part of our daily lives, and we wanted to show it some love.

The print measures 22″ x 30,” and is printed on 36 lb. white matte paper. We’ve limited the first run to an edition of 150 signed and numbered prints. It can be purchased here for $30.00 (+S&H). The original version is also available for sale. It costs $350.00, and can be seen by clicking here.

Rich Gemmell’s Vision of Scotland

0

Really diggin’ this series of illustrations by UK-based illustrator, Rich Gemmell, who drew them based on an inspirational trip he recently took around Scotland. There are six total prints (The Whales, above; rest under the cut) in the outdoorsy series, but at the time of post they’ve all sold out. These could easily be used in an ad campaign for a company like REI or The North Face if they were trying to present their identity artistically. When looking at them it’s hard not to feel like you’re actually there out in the wilderness. And that’s coming from someone who would rather eat cactus than go camping.  [Courtesy of The Best Part]

An Implausible Scenario Due to Seinfeld’s Standing as Biggest Pansy in Television History

0

Seinfeld the character was the biggest wuss in the history of TV. I would have much rather had George Costanza and Kramer on my side in a brawl any day. Still, this print, appropriately titled, “What’s the deal with Nunchucks,” finds Jerry and Bruce Lee amalgamated into some sort of Jewish martial artist. Interesting and hilarious combination if there ever was one.

By California-based artist, Brandon Bird. He has a portfolio full of funny celebrity-invaded work, including obvious love for Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage, Christopher Walken (who doesn’t) and the dudes from the OG Law and Order. Check it out.

Buy the print here (13″ x 19″ — $40.00)
