We are very pleased to announce that our collaboration with wonderful and talented map-cut artist, Karen O’Leary, has resulted in this amazing Manhattan Barcode Map, which has just been made available to purchase as a limited edition print. Using a variety of black ink pens–ranging from 0.25 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm, 0.45 mm, and 0.50 mm–the map of Manhattan was first hand-drawn in thousands of tiny lines. Next, thin slices were eliminated and a barcode was exposed. Besides being an intricate component of the Jailbreak logo, the barcode is an essential, yet often unnoticed, part of our daily lives, and we wanted to show it some love.
Ok, so we’re trying to give away one of these guys and only one person has commented? I know people love free stuff. Participate and win. Click through to find out how.
The print measures 22″ x 30,” and is printed on 36 lb. white matte paper. We’ve limited the first run to an edition of 150 signed and numbered prints. It can be purchased here for $52.00 (+S&H). The original version is also available for sale. It costs $400.00, and can be seen by clicking here.
In the spirit of Christmas, and because we’re feeling generous, we’re going to be giving away a total of 7 prints to our readers. That’s you! The initial freebie will be awarded to the person who best answers this question in the comments section by Friday, December 18th 25th at Noon: “What is the one thing you love the most about New York City?” or for non New Yorkers, “What makes your city better than NYC?”
Additionally, we’ll be giving away 1 free print for every 25 prints sold. To be considered, please follow our brand new Twitter page and mention @The_Jailbreak, telling us why you think you deserve a free print. Be creative! The best one will receive the first free one and so forth. Plus, buying a print gives someone who might not otherwise be able to afford one the opportunity to own a nice piece of art.
While delivery before Christmas cannot be guaranteed, placing your order by noon on Friday (December 18th) will give it the best chance of arriving before December 25th.
Thanks!
-Quincy
