In Spanish, calavera means skull and is widely associated with Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations. California-based artist, Jose Pulido, puts an interesting spin on this well-known image with his pop-culture-infused calavera prints. Each finds Pulido drawing the skull’s face or body onto various characters from the common vernacular, such as Storm Troopers (shown), Darth Vader, Bob Marley and Napoleon. Oh, and they’re dirt cheap at 10 bucks a pop! Well designed, affordable art? Sign me up.
