The Jailbreak Blog

It might be a stretch (or in the very least sacrilegious) to surmise that Jesus (last image below) was a pothead, but the rest of the famous folks immortalized in artist Cliff Maynard’s roach-end drawings were, or are, vocal about their love affair with Mary Jane. Sure Hendrix (shown) and Jerry Garcia may have preferred a good old fashioned trip, but Bob Marley, Jack Herer and Snoop Dogg (all below) all own a higher-education degree in weed.

Maynard, a Pittsburgh-based tattoo artist, says, “I was studying mosaics in school, [and] I just remember sort of making this connection in my head between the tiles and roach papers.” From that revelation, Maynard has invented a new artistic medium called “Chronic Art;” one that can take over 200 hours (!) and thousands of mostly-smoked joints to complete. Depending on size, originals cost $1,000 to $10,000. [Via Dangerous Minds]

All of Maynard’s works shown here are available to purchase as 16″ x 20″ Giclee prints. $80.00 — Limited to (of course) 420 — Purchase
