Yes, that’s the rangy face of insufferable and brilliant deceased writer, Kurt Vonnegut. He of Cat’s Cradle, Breakfast of Champions and my personal favorite, Bluebeard, fame. Vonnegut is one of three odd characters to be given the “ripped” treatment by Winona Lake, Indiana-based artist, Jason Rowland. His one-of-a-kind pieces find Rowland using a variation of techniques, including stenciling and decoupage, to create a collage unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Click through to find out how he does it.

Also included after the break is purchasing information, as well as the Joe Strummer and Wayne Coyne versions.

Rowland took a copy of Life Magazine from 1959 and shredded the pages. He then decoupaged the strips onto 20″ x 24″ canvases, before using a stencil to spray the faces onto the  canvas. Neat, man. Fucking neat.
