In 2001, Amsterdam outfit Experimental Jetset set out to design the ‘archetypical’ band T-shirt. So they stripped down the lofty connotations of a rock-band persona into a simple list of four names: John, Paul, Ringo and George. And soon thereafter their infamous, and oft-imitated, ode to The Beatles was born. The “JPRG” T-shirt has been out of print for a few years, but it will be re-issued this coming January by Japanese label, Publik. [Via] More info and pictures after the break. From the Recycled Art Co. comes this ingenious map of the United States where every state is represented by one of its license plates. It must have been a crazy process to cut each license plate considering how accurate they are in size. What a fantastic idea! The one-of-a-kind piece measures 28″ x 54″ and costs $1,850.00. More purchasing info here. Detailed shots on the other side.
If they were ever an occasion–and I’m not suggesting there would be–to spend over fifty bucks on a candle, it would definitely be this cannabis candle from NYC-based apothecary, Malin + Goetz. The packaging is also nice; sleek and modern with various-sized text and no photos. The candle burns for a whopping 60 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy its peppery blend of “sexy green cannabis and spicy extracts.”Also available in mojito and dark rum.
This is one of those damn clever ideas that seemingly should have already been done before: putting beards on historically beardless fictional and non-fictional characters. Batman (pictured above) was the first in the ongoing series, which is the brainchild of Croatian illustrator, Vanja Mrgan. You can follow his progress by clicking here. Four more after the jump. Via
Our friend, the talented Ms. Karen O’Leary, just updated me on her latest map-cut projects, which include versions of NYC (shown above), Boston, London and Washington D.C. (all after the cut). Both San Francisco and Philly are also in the works. While O’Leary has been inundated with requests for custom maps, she’s still taking orders for any city she either has or hasn’t already completed. Check em out–Christmas is just around the corner…

Using nothing but fallen sycamores and miscellaneous light bulbs, four talented female designers known as the Egg Collective built this series of limited edition, “Stumped Lamps.” Since they’re fully functional, the lamps serve a dual purpose of both light source and table. Innovative to say the least… Detailed shots after the break.
