There’s a rumor floating around that Apple has been pitching an idea to various television networks about a $30/per month TV subscription service that would stream via iTunes.
But according to the report, nobody is biting just yet in fear of pissing off Comcast and other industry giants. Nevertheless, Apple hopes to have the service in place by 2010.
This is sort of an obvious attempt by Apple to define a business model–much like paying for newspaper content–that’s struggling to find it’s identity.
Netflix and Hulu have set a pretty weak benchmark with their inability to really nail down how television and movie streaming will become a lucrative industry.
Once again, as they have done with the iPhone and the imminent tablet, previously, Apple is making moves that could leave everyone else in the dust.
*Discuss: Would you pay $30.00 a month for live television and movie streaming on iTunes?
