Torino, Italy-based master sculptor, Fabio Viale, uses both white and black marble in his work, which includes a fully-functional motor boat and massive industrial tires.

The pieces featured above and below were sculpted out of 100% white marble!

At the end of this post there’s five more photos and a video documenting the creation and use of the boat. It’s pretty unreal.

For more information on Viale visit his website.

interesting, and strikingly nice, but aside from that, it's a bloody natural waste of resources. The amount of energy put into mining a piece of marble that size doesn't make this a viable source for “arts sake” Why can't artists be a little more conscientious of their surroundings? I understand not everyone wants to be green, but this just seems like a massive waste or a great product.

That's just nuts. There's no logical reason why that thing should float. Yet, lo and behold… float it does!

A good point, Zero, yet I find this kind of art far more acceptable than say, a house with cheese sprayed all over it. Or tolerable in light of the amount of energy waste produced for other uses of marble that are purely for decadence or opulence. When this level of talent exists, I say sculpt away, Marble Man.
