Director Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) and rapper Kanye West last collaborated in 2007 for the controversial and critically acclaimed “Flashing Lights” video.
And now the duo have reunited for this bizarre, avant-garde short film titled, “We Were Once a Fairytale,” which explores, rather brilliantly, the constant struggle between Kanye and his massive ego (or, more accurately, a small rodent living in his stomach).
The film is full of metaphor and paints the portrait of a deeply tormented artist who masks his insecurities with narcissism. The end will have you applauding both of these men for taking a chance with their artistic vision.
It’s a must watch.
