“The Fun Theory” was initiated by Volkswagen in an effort to alter people’s behavior for the better by taking the monotonous and making it extraordinary.
Their first test took place at a subway station in Stockholm where they attempted to answer the question of, “can we get more people to choose the stairs by making it fun to do?”
They then transformed a normal set of stairs into a functional piano and watched as a reported 66% of passersby chose the “fun” route over the nearby escalators.
