NYC-brand No Mas and Muhammad Ali Enterprises have come together to release Rumblevision, a series of three short animated videos that celebrate the 35th anniversary of Ali’s infamous Rumble in the Jungle boxing match with George Foreman. The videos, hand-drawn and directed by David Rathman (“Zaire”), Jerome Lagarrigue (“Round Zero”) and James Blagden (“GFOS VS. GOAT), each re-imagine the bout from unique and abstract perspectives. The funny folks over at Secret Sauce TV bring us, Where The Dirty Hipsters Are–a hilarious spoof of both Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are and smug L.A. hipsters. UK street-artist collective, Pirates, painted this massive, colorful mural over a two day period for Central Illustration Agency (CIA), who represents their founder, Jimi Crayon. They simultaneously filmed their work, which resulted in this 4:00 time-lapse video called We Like Colour (above). On September 1st, 2009, husband-and-wife team, John and Linda Meyers (collectively known as Wary Meyers), published their fascinating book, “Tossed and Found.” It’s a collection of work derived from the pair’s “reduce, reuse, recycle” process; where they find old, discarded items and transform them into something new and usable. The results range from an explanation of how to build a chair from pool noodles (after the break), to the creation of thisĀ “Type Chess Set” (above). Read the rest of this entry »
UK-based graphic designer, Robert Samuel Hanson, has worked for The Economist and The New York Times Magazine among others. His clever alphabet series (shown above) is “a work in progress and in no particular order,” according to the artist. The rest after the break.
25-year-old artist Brandon Schaefer has an obvious and admitted affection for film–something that comes through in his constantly-expanding collection of superbly designed vintage movie posters. The Dark Knight poster (above) made the rounds earlier this year, but the rest of these are fresh introductions to Schaefer’s retro, colorful work. 11 more gems, including Annie Hall, The Blair Witch Project and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, after the jump. From the good folks over at The Dieline–and their “Student Spotlight” feature–comes this NYC Spaghetti packaging concept by Alex Creamer. Three more shots after the break.
