Andy Council - Urban Scrawl Dino

Andy Council - Front Room Dragon

Andy Council - Beer Monster

Andy Council - Trashasaur

These fantastic–in imagination and execution–prints are from Bristol, UK-based illustrator, Andy Council’s, “lots of stuff” series.

Look closely and you’ll find everything from traffic cones to exploding champagne bottles to golf clubs to bridges and toilet seats. It’s a dumpster diving entree into Council’s psyche that will leave you stunned and yearning searching for more.

Some are available in print form (under $100, here). Otherwise, visit Council’s website for more work and information.

Seven more after the jump.

Fire Alarm Ashtray

It’s a hit or miss proposition when reporting on concepts, but this fire alarm ashtray is simply too–dare I say–brilliant not to show it some love.

It was conceived by Istanbul, Turkey-based ad-man, Burak Kaynak, who wanted to create something, “industrial and humorous” while staying consistent with the product’s inherent purpose.

He seems to have achieved both of those things pretty well with this design.

Watch out, though, Kaynak, if the folks over at Urban Outfitters see this thing, it will be in stores everywhere by Friday afternoon.

Three more shots after the jump.

Music Video: Lusine — ‘Two Dots’

YouTube Preview Image

This Britta Johnson-directed music video for ‘Two Dots’–the latest single from “abstract electronic” artist Lusine–is heavily influenced by mathematical symbols and how they’re analogous of human relationships.

“In the clip, a pair of marbles—one blue, one yellow—engage in the timeless dance of seduction on a horizontal plain, mapping the ups and downs of a courtship through pencil-drawn geometric principles. Like Two Dots, Johnson’s video lives in the middle ground between technology and humanity, emotional immediacy and obsessive detail.”

The proper use of animals in collage-type illustrations really adds an air of strength and beauty to the work; especially when they’re paired with geometrical shapes and sharp fonts, such as done here by artist and musician, Tom Gallo.

One of our favorite illustrators at the moment is French artist Stéphane Massa-Bidal (a.k.a Hulk4598, or Rétrofuturs). He just updated his Flickr photo-folio with three news images that attempt to raise awareness about carbon tax.

The fourth print (first above) is a clever visual dissection of gas composition.

Click here for more info on Massa-Bidal.

Per usual, the print will go on sale today at a random time. It’s an edition of 450, measures 18″ x 24″, and is signed and numbered by Fairey.

Robot Dixie

Artist Brian Lee used a base structure of wood and steel, combined with some unorthodox materials–a piano, color wheel, Barbies, Tonka Trucks, match box cars, toy guns, and Legos–to create Robot Dixie (above).

The sculpture is on display at The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) in White River Junction, Vermont.

Some detail shots after the break.
