Have a use for letters made out of cheese? Well, here’s your solution. UK-based Estonia-based company Hand Made Font has already received a good amount of press for their unique sets of typography, which range from toast (third above) to fire, but they’re new to us so what the hell. Unfortunately, the fonts aren’t cheap (about $1,000 for the set, here). It’s cool though, just looking at them will make creative folk salivate. Check out grass, pepper and clouds after the jump.
Australian street artist Buff Diss abandoned art supplies in favor of a much simpler method (or more difficult, depending on how you look at it) of creating art: masking tape. His specialty is in the dead-accurate construction of hands, and he does them quite well. We are constantly in awe of new artistic mediums, which makes masking tape very impressive and one keep an eye on in the near future Check out one more photo and Diss’s interview with Walrus TV after the jump.
Today and Tomorrow featured a bunch of cool photos from photographer Romain Laurent’s Tilt series (above). Rachel Dry of The Washington Post wondered, “what would Warhol blog?” A disturbingly awesome video of a woman dousing herself with a rapidly melting ice cream cone was the best post of the week from the blaaahg.
It’s Nice That introduced us to UK artist Slinkachu and his Little People Project (above). The LA Times unmasked (sort of) the previously anonymous artist behind the controversial Obama/Joker/Socialist print. Although this video made the rounds this week, TWBE had it first. I Love Graffiti out of Denmark has a new series titled “5 minutes” where they follow around a graffiti crew while they do their thing. Dope!
Kenji Hirata (above) was the artist of the day for August 18th on the blog, uh, Artist A Day. Mashkulture has dozens of photos (below) from their visit to Matt Moore’s Momentum exhibit.
…like saturday morning cartoons for adults. I love everything about this short film. The premise is absurd yet wonderfully executed, and the score is ominous and perfect. Hilarious and amusing to say the least. Created by Ummm Productions. 5,205 photos were used in the creation of Fist Full of Fur. [Update]: Thanks to mO for informing us about the music in this film. The song is Royksopp Forever by Royksopp.
These are obviously not crop circles, but I’m calling them crop circles because they are exactly what I envision the Japanese creating in lieu of traditional crop circles. Made with various colors of rice. Dope!
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Candyland board game, Hansbro took it upon themselves to decorate the most crooked street in the world in bright colors. Where else would one find a street like this besides San Francisco?
A guy known only as Boey does intricate drawings on coffee cups. These are some of my favorites. Check out the rest of the coffee cup series on his Flickr photo stream here. After the jump you’ll find a time-lapse video of the artist at work. |
