Known for her eccentric portraits of animals, artist Valerie Leonard’s American Flag was constructed with hundreds of toy soldiers spray painted in red, white and blue. But it’s really the second, black and white version that pops and shows her creativity and skill.

New mediums are always interesting to explore, especially when they include toys in their foundation. These are great pieces that suggest maybe Leonard should stick to toys and not pets in Warhol-esque techno color.

As long as Valerie Leonard doesn't use the Miniscule Blue Helmets on a Massive Quest as spray paintable toy soldiers for her art!
