In a black & white Paris, little creatures with paintbrushes decide to brighten up the city. Reulf is student project from the University of Paris VIII, directed by Quentin Carnicelli, Charles Klipfel and Jean-François Jégo as part of their graduate program in Arts and Technologies de l’Image. Music composed by Robert le magnifique and Olivier Mellano.
According to Arrested Motion, there was some confusion in London over the weekend when street artist Mantis threw up some work in one of Banksy’s regular spots, “Old Street.” Adding to the fracas was the inclusion of bananas, as seen in the original Banksy-Pulp Fiction (1st above) piece. However, it was discovered that this work, which depicts emaciated African children holding banana peels, actually belongs to Mantis. I almost prefer his take on the original. Thoughts? http://www.vimeo.com/4685990
Soul 2 Sole, a motion graphics film, was created by David Park as his thesis project for the Parsons School of Design in NYC. This is a pretty sweet look at the evolution of sneakers in this country and how they’ve essentially created a subculture with fanatics and social commentators. Plus, the soundtrack to this clip is awesome. Enjoy!
Exploit Yourself, directed by Carl Rinsch for Nike. “‘Exploit Yourself’ talks about pushing your limits just for the sake of it. We see no competition or race but the one we all got within, still we keep trying to beat ourselves up. Faster runs, quicker movements, higher jumps: strength, pain, muscle, sweat, determination, thirst. Trying one’s best, never give up, create an enemy when there’s not one, the feeling of suffering for self beating. Winning in front of your eyes, winning for your eyes only, and never stop making you BETTER. Who said life at the city was placid?” Supposedly Mr. Rinsch is a protege of legendary director Ridley Scott and is in talks to direct a new Alien flick. Remember those??
The No Future Companion is a collaboration between KAWS and his good friend, artist Hajime Sorayama. The two have created a futuristic Mickey Mouse that stands 12.5” tall with a black chrome finish. It goes on sale tomorrow for the low price of $980. Pretty sweet and wholly unaffordable!

Maki Naro of Page 8 Productions was kind enough to send over a photo of this awesome John McCain McClane action figure. After stopping by our booth at Wizard World Philly he found it imperitive to share his creation with us, and we appreciate it. Taking the standard Jailbreak Toys John McCain Action Figure, Naro roughed him up a bit, transforming him into the likeness of the most badass fictional character ever to grace the silver screen. We loved all of the Die Hard flicks (yes, even the last one) so this is a welcome edition to the DIY collection of our action figures. Thanks to Maki! |
