Vegas for the Week…

0

I’m heading to the sinfiul Las Vegas, Nevada for a couple of days so it might be a bit of a slow week here at the Jailbreak. I hope everyone has a good one: enjoy March Madness, go see I Love You, Man, take a guess about our new line of toys, plan your summer vacation, twitter at least five times a day, try going vegetarian, drink a beer everyday, smile more than usual, wish me luck at the tables, go to a museum, read a David Foster Wallace novel (I suggest Infinite Jest), call your grandmother, eat Egyptian food with your hands, buy Apple stock (new I-Phone with video capabilities due later this year), google yourself (only to see you aren’t there until the fourth page), buy an Obama Action Figure as an Easter gift, write a poem, ride your bike to work at least twice…

adios.

Shepard Fairey on South Park

0

You aren’t truly famous until South Park makes fun of you, your work, or your general state of idiocy. And what do you know, Jailbreak friend Shepard Fairey’s “Change” poster was redesigned South Park style in their most recent episode, “The Coon.” I think it has become quite an honor to be big enough to get on South Park, and I hope Shepard is humble enough to laugh at himself once in awhile and take this in stride. Although it has slipped recently, South Park has evolved into a generally legitimate source for irreverent social commentary. If you’ve brushed it off as nothing more than potty jokes told by fourth graders, I would suggest giving it another shot.

To watch the episode in its entirety go here. Enjoy!

Hope out of Legos

0

Former LEGOLAND designer, Mariann Masanuma, was so inspired by Shepard Fairey’s iconic Hope poster she decided to copy it using lego pieces. Pretty sweet and innovative. What do you think?

“To do it properly, I decided that I would use the colors that were closest too the original. That meant using a whole bunch of Medium and Dark Blue, not the most common of LEGO colors. In fact, I used almost all of my Dark Blue bricks and plates just to finish this model.

It is 28 inches tall and 19 inches wide. I used a lot of SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques to get all the details right.”

For more information on this piece go to Mariann’s blog.

Ron English & Bigfoot Do New Jersey

0

Jailbreak amigos Ron English and Bigfoot teamed up with artist Jason Maloney to create a wicked mural in New Jersey a couple days ago. Our friends at Juxtapoz did a great, in-depth post on the event so hop over there for more information. In the meantime, here are a couple of pics.

Great Minds…Think Like Us

Stussy’s “Great Minds” collection is the T-shirt version of the Jailbreak’s Oddfellows collection. They include some of the, uhhh, greatest minds of the last century and beyond in pop-culturized, colorful designs that you could definitely wear either to the club or grandma’s retirement home. Head over to Hypebeast for more information and where to cop on of these sick shirts.

Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Mark Sanford

For those who don’t know, Michael Steele is the new chairman of the Republican National Committee and he’s claimed he wants to bring the Republican message to the hip hop generation.  Well, one thing led to another and as you’re about to see, he wound up in a full on rap battle with Stephen Colbert. No doubt, Colbert rocks the mic but just wait till you see MC Steele (aka; Run RNC) drop the serious rhymes.

Star Wars Stormtroopers: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

1

The infamous Star Wars inspired toymaker Suckadelic strikes back with this incredible limited run of the GAY EMPIRE EDITION. As it turns out, pink stormtroopers with turntables and a boombox are a little more fun to party with than the George Lucas originals. “Make love not war” seems to be the big statement here…and make sure to bring a little LeAnn Rimes with you for those long rides out in space.

Obama on Leno

0

It seems fitting that President Obama will be the first sitting U.S. President to appear on Jay Leno when he does so tomorrow evening. Phil Rosenthal of the Chicago Tribune put it perfectly:

“By agreeing to be Leno’s guest on “The Tonight Show,” President Barack Obama is venturing into a genre that has become a requisite touchstone for rising high-profile pols. But it’s territory where NBC says a sitting president, always a sitting duck in the nightly monologues, never before has sat as a guest.”

Here’s a clip from when he appeared on Leno as a Senator about a year ago. Enjoy!

Sexy Bookshelf

Designed by Arun Kumar Francis, the sex bookshelf unfortunately doesn’t come equipped with a picture of President Obama as it appears to here. This thing is pretty sweet and I would definitely put it in my bondage room next to my sex swing. Jokes, jokes, it would go in the living room.

Bush’s Letter to Obama

0

George W. Bush actually had some final words to say to the freshly inaugurated Barack Obama. Watch as Obama reads the advice of former President Bush in this revealing letter to the new US President.

Of course, our favorite part is the use of the Obama Action Figure and the incredible DIY-style oversized suit they put on George and, P.S. We love LOLcats.com too! Just look at this little guy…
