Obama Run DC

This is a sweet Obama t-shirt fashioned after the iconic “Run DMC” tee. Just another cool piece of swag that someday the Smithsonian will probably collect in order to have a massive Obama exhibit…all I know is the action figure better be featured in the center of everything…under bright, pretty lights….

This is simply too hilarious not to post. Just a friendly reminder from your faithful condom dispenser Durex that you should get it on but always wrap it up!

Obama Mania in the Flesh

2

A woman, Renee D. Jennings, who was unable to make it to Obama’s inauguration, has declared herself as the ultimate Obama supporter. She even went as far as getting this Obama tattoo on her left forearm. If we thought Obama mania couldn’t go any further, this is indisputible evidence that people unconditionally love this guy. I highly doubt anybody ran out and got a Reagan or Kennedy tattoo after they became president, pretty amazing…

‘Brooklyn’s Finest’

0

This past weekend I was in the magical Park City, Utah for the 25th Annual Sundance Film Festival. For those of you who don’t know, Sundance was created by the legendary Robert Redford in 1984 as an outlet for independent films. Every year more than 9,000 movies are submitted with between 100-200 accepted in categories like dramatic competition and documentary. Because I have a sweet connection in Park City (shout out to Nick Badami) I was able to get free tickets to a bunch of world premieres. The first one I saw was a film called ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ by Director Antoine Fuqua of ‘Training Day’ and ‘Shooter’ previously. Helmed by first-time writer Michael Martin, ‘Brooklyn’ tells the story of three cops in various stages of their career who are battling various ethical and personal conundrums. The violence is palapable, the performances by Gere, Cheadle, Hawke (and surprisingly Wesley Snipes) are fantastic, and the setting of Brooklyn is depicted eloquently in all its gritty glory. This was the first movie bought at Sundance this year and will be released in November.

Also, Jim from the Office adapted David Foster Wallace’s ‘Brief Interviews with Hideous Men’, which should not be missed when it’s eventually released.

Pictures from the Inauguration!

Wow, what a day its been! Our apologizes for a lack of posts over the past couple of days, as Jason has been working the inauguration scene and I was in Park City, Utah for the unbelieveable Sundance Film Festival (more from that after the jump). I thought it would be a good way to celebrate the day by putting up some iconic images taken from the event:

Well, more than 1 million people showed up to support Mr. Obama at his historical inauguration, cramming 10-deep just to get a glimpse of the man who has the daunting task of bringing America back to where it once was. There’s no question that election day was the most important day of my generation’s–and maybe every generation’s–lifetime, but today our eight years of discontent with Bush seemed to evaporate under the mighty presence of the chosen one. But now the celebration must end and we, as a people, must put our collective faith in one man to change our world. Good luck President Obama! We will all be watching!

Suspend Your Disbelief: How to Enjoy an Inauguration Fully

By Peggy Noonan

Flying in, we take the route over the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson, the Tidal Basin: the signs and symbols of the great republic. And you’ve seen it all a thousand times but you can’t stop looking, and you can’t help it, your eyes well. After a minute you realize you must have a moony look on your face, and you lean back. The lady to your right, engrossed in a paperback of “Marley & Me,” sees nothing. Your gaze continues across the aisle, and you see another woman looking out the window in the same way, avidly taking it in. Her view includes the Capitol. She leans back.

I know her. A woman of the Reagan era, an old acquaintance, and when we land we greet each other. “Isn’t it something that no matter how many times you see it, it still grabs your heart?” I say. She responds, wonderingly, “I never see it that I’m not moved. To this day.”

We are grownups, we have seen limits and imperfections, compromises and mess, and yet this brilliant thing endures. Lincoln will always be Lincoln, and nothing can mess that up.

The District is braced happily for the onslaught. You can’t fail to see the excitement. The inauguration is all anyone talks about. Everyone seems to preface their observations with how many they’ve seen. “This is my fourth inauguration,” and “This is my eighth time with one of these.” But everyone feels that this one is different.

“The calm before the storm” said the desk clerk in the quiet lobby of a Georgetown hotel. “It starts Friday.” The shops are full of tchotchkes: Obama cocktail glasses and coins, plastic Obamas standing at podiums waving flags. A clerk shows me the Obama wristwatches for $35. I buy a friend an Obama Action Figure whose arms and legs can be configured to walk forward, pointing us toward the future.

Obama Stars In Daft Punk vs. Adam Freeland Video

0

Check out our main man squeeze, the Obama Action Figure, rockin’ out with all the superstars of the urban vinyl world in this phat music video (yes, I just said phat) “Aer OBAMA” by directorial team GOLD. Here’s how they describe their creation…

The following is a mixed-media stop motion music video and celebration commemorating the election and inauguration of Barack Obama as the forty-fourth president of these United States. Audibly showcasing Adam Freeland’s remix of Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic” and the imaginative stylings of forward thinking toy artists Dalek, Bill McMullen and Kubrick to name just a few. Independently animated and directed by the progressive minds of the directing team GOLD, the piece is a labor of love that invites everyone to join in or create their own celebration this coming Tuesday January the 20th.

We’re honored.
