I’ve learned that there are a bunch of films like this on YouTube but this is the first one I ever saw and I still think it’s the best. (If you can take the music.)
It’s a little-known fact (outside of my personal circles) that, in addition to authoring this blog, I also sculpt all the toys for Jailbreak. What’s even less-known though, is that this sculptor lost a fingertip last summer at Burning Man. (It’s a long story involving art, bells, and helicopters but I’ll leave all that to your imagination.) Anyway, last Sunday, I got a phone call early in the morning telling me to turn on CBS. There was a show about a man named Lee Spievack who had lost about an inch of his finger in an accident. He’d managed to regrow the tip of his finger, like a starfish or a salamander might. (The picture above is Mr. Spievack’s regenerated finger) He did it using a powder made of pig bladders that his brother, a Harvard scientist, had sent to him saying he’d seen it do remarkable things. About six weeks later, he’d regrown his entire finger tip, nail and all. There’s going to be a clinical trial this summer, using soldiers whose hands were seriously damaged in Iraq or Afghanistan. I’ve got my fingers crossed! 
Since we’re already wearing our hearts on our sleeve anyway with the Obama Action Figure, this video really says it all so brilliantly.
I came across this a while back and was amazed. Now we’re on the verge of releasing a Tesla Oddfellow, so I had to go back and read it again for some research. It’s about a project that Tesla began but never finished that essentially would have given us a wireless worldwide web (with free wireless electricity to boot!) about 100 years ahead of schedule. 
Yes, Norman Mailer had a rep as a “two fisted writer”. But still, nothing in that rep quite prepared you for seeing the man in action. There’s a whole back story behind this video. Watch carefully and you can see when Mailer bites a piece of Rip Torn’s ear. 
I don’t want to spoil the video because I think most of the joy comes in watching him (her?) at work. Having said that, this video does really open up some questions about how brains work and what separates us from all the rest of the animal kingdom. (Answer: less than we think!) I’m very curious what comments will come out of this.
